Barbara Tannenbaum
Over the last decade, the advent of print-on-demand publishing has democratized the manufacture of books and revolutionized the world of photobooks. Rapid production and distribution of inexpensive, high quality printed volumes suddenly became possible in quantities from one copy to hundreds. Photographers rushed to take advantage of an affordable opportunity to experiment with the offset printed book. DIY: Photographers & Books is the first museum show to explore their creations.
Barbara Tannenbaum, Curator of Photography at the Cleveland Museum of Art, discusses the photobook and the effects of recent technology for artists who use the form as their media.
This book was published in conjunction with the exhibition, DIY: Photographers & Books at The Cleveland Museum of Art, August 11 thru December 30 2012.
