Louise d’Argencourt is a noted scholar of European art and the author of exhibition catalogues on Puvis de Chavannes and William Adolphe Bouguereau. With the CMA curatorial and conservation staff she has re-examined the attribution, provenance, and condition of each of the museum’s 19th-century European paintings. The professional and social milieux in which each work was created are also treated in depth.
