This haunting poster is of a work by Albert Pinkham Ryder (1847-1917). A waiter Ryder knew committed suicide after he bet money on a racehorse and lost. Death appears as skeleton on horseback riding the track in the opposite direction, while the serpent slithers in the foreground. As was his habit, Ryder worked on the painting for decades making innumerable changes and was reluctant to part with it.
